The Dog Stars is another post-apocalyptic movie this year that had a slow start at the box office in North America. But it now has to focus on the rest of its box-office journey and try to outgross as many films as it can. It is on track to beat the domestic haul of another post-apocalyptic movie, which came out in 2026 – 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple at the North American box office. Keep scrolling for the deets.

Despite being directed by Ridley Scott, the film received mixed reviews. Many even believe Scott should retire after a series of underwhelming releases. It will also face an uphill battle to recover its moderate budget. While Jacob Elordi has emerged as a popular name, he is yet to become a proven box-office draw capable of pulling a film out of the danger zone.

According to Box Office Mojo‘s report, the Jacob Elordi starrer survival film had an underwhelming debut weekend at the box office in North America. The Dog Stars collected just $7.7 million on its opening weekend at the domestic box office. It somehow managed to open at #5 in the box office rankings, which is not good for a new release. However, the movie could do wonders if it holds strong in the later weeks.
