Clayface is the DCU movie releasing on Friday, and it is R-rated. The horror film is centered on one of Batman’s most disturbing villains. Keep scrolling for the deets.
While superhero movies have traditionally attracted broad audiences, an R-rated horror treatment could give the DCU title a different theatrical identity. However, reaching the top 10 would require a substantial domestic haul, putting it in competition with some of the biggest R-rated blockbusters ever released.
How much does it need to break into the all-time top 10 among R-rated movies?
According to Box Office Mojo, Clayface will need to reach major box-office milestones to break into the all-time top 10 list of highest-grossing R-rated movies in North America. At #10 is The Matrix Reloaded, with its $281.6 million domestic box office total. Therefore, it will have to earn more than $282 million in its domestic run to break into the all-time top 10 list of highest-grossing R-rated movies.
