It is a Japanese monster movie sequel to the 2023 movie. It has earned positive reviews from critics when it premiered at the 2026 New York Film Festival in September. The film features the return of Godzilla Minus One cast members Ryunosuke Kamiki, Minami Hamabe, Hidetaka Yoshioka, Yuki Yamada, Kuranosuke Sasaki, Sakura Ando, and Miou Tanaka. Min Tanaka, Masami Nagasawa, and Jun Kunimura join the sequel in new roles.
Godzilla Minus Zero’s opening day gross in Japan
According to media reports, Godzilla Minus Zero collected a solid $4.1 million on Tuesday opening day at the box office in Japan. It also includes the midnight screenings and double bills. The sequel has posted the biggest opening day ever for the franchise in dollars, surpassing even Godzilla Minus One [$3 million], King of the Monsters [$2 million], and Shin Godzilla [$2.2 million].
