Rajinikanth, at 75, is still ruling the box office like a boss! He has just delivered a historic blockbuster with Jailer 2, which has grossed a staggering 700 crore+ worldwide. Up next, he’ll be seen in Dharman, which is likely to release in early 2027. The film is currently in production and is carrying good buzz on the ground level. At the Indian box office, it is expected to open strongly, and the superstar will be looking to achieve a major opening-day milestone for the third consecutive time.

Rajinikanth delivered two back-to-back 50 crore net openings

With Coolie, Rajini witnessed his career-best opening. Backed by tremendous hype, the film shattered records by scoring 65 crore net on day 1. After Coolie, he saw another thunderous opening with his latest release, Jailer 2. Although it missed the record opening, it still opened at a huge 59.7 crore net. With these two films, he delivered back-to-back 50-crore net openers.

Coming off two big openers, Rajinikanth has Dharman coming up next. While the hype hasn’t been as high as Coolie and Jailer 2, the anticipation is there. Also, since the superstar is coming off an industry hit, there will be a halo effect in play for sure. As of now, the film is in position to open at 35-40 crore net in India. However, with chartbuster music and a powerful trailer, the potential could go high.
