When Nishikant Kamat’s Drishyam hit the big screens in 2015, no one thought that this Bollywood remake of a grounded family thriller from Malayalam would evolve into one of Bollywood’s most critically acclaimed franchises. Spanning two hugely successful installments, the Ajay Devgn franchise has become a gold standard for content-driven commercial cinema, and is ready for Drishyam 3 in October, 2026.
As anticipation builds for the third and supposedly the last installment, slated for release on the franchise’s iconic October 2 date, the series stands on the verge of a historic box office milestone. With a combined net profit of 188.75 crore already in the bag, the franchise is just 11.25 crore away from breaching the monumental 200 crore cumulative net profit milestone!
Drishyam Franchise Box Office
Back in 2015, the first installment, Drishyam, was produced on a modest budget of 48 crore. Backed by stellar word-of-mouth, it went on to earn a net collection of 76.16 crore in India. Meanwhile, Drishyam 2 was mounted on a bigger scale with an elevated budget of 80 crore. Directed by Abhishek Pathak, the sequel took the domestic box office by storm during the tough post-pandemic era, generating a massive net collection of 240.59 crore.
