Resident Evil has officially broken into the franchise’s top 3 grossers at the worldwide box office. It completes its third weekend with strong box-office numbers, despite losing the #1 spot to Verity in North America once again. The reboot has surpassed Retribution to enter the franchise’s top 3, and it is also debuting in China today, which will further boost the film’s box office. Keep scrolling for the deets.
Resident Evil is set to cross $250 million worldwide
The Zach Cregger helmed reboot collected a strong $12.5 million at the North American box office in its third weekend. It is at #2 in the domestic box office rankings with just a 46.2% drop from the second weekend. The film has a stronghold despite losing 425 theaters. After its third weekend, the film’s domestic total stands at $124.9 million.
Resident Evil is also doing well at the overseas box office, collecting over $16.6 million in its third weekend. It has witnessed just a 38.5% decline from its second weekend. The Zach Cregger reboot crossed $120.5 million internationally in 62 markets. Including domestic gross, the worldwide collection of the horror flick has crossed $245.4 million [via Box Office Mojo]. It is inches away from the $250 million milestone at the worldwide box office.
