Alan Ritchson and Owen Wilson’s comedy actioner Runner was released in theaters on September 11. The film was released alongside newcomers Practical Magic 2 and The Uprising. The film had a slow start at the box office. However, it is expected to pick up because of the positive word of mouth it received on the opening day and from the preview shows. The previews were held a week prior to the release.

On CinemaScore, the Scott Waugh directorial received an A-, which is a strong score for an actioner, on par with Wrath of Man and The Equalizer and above Nobody 2, The Beekeeper, and even Christopher Nolan’s Tenet. The critics gave it 70% on the Rotten Tomatoes site as well.

The film had a slow start at the box office, collecting $2.5 million on Friday. The film was played in 2,568 screens across the USA. The opening day collection also includes the preview collections from a week ago. The film’s opening day collection is higher than Brave: The Dark ($930K), Sight ($1.1 million), The Shift ($1.8 million), and The Last Rodeo ($2.1 million).
