Aaron Sorkin’s directorial debut, The Social Reckoning, has been rejected by the audience. The film was released on October 9. The film has seen a disappointing run at the box office in North America. The film’s number is far behind its predecessor, The Social Network (2010). The Jeremy Strong-starrer has recorded one of the lowest debuts in North American box office history. It has a strong subject matter, but failed to impress the audience in its opening weekend.

On its first Monday, the film dropped to 8th at the US box office, down from 6th in its debut weekend. The film collected just $560K on Monday despite Columbus Day. It saw a 56% drop from its Sunday collection of $1.2 million. The film, which also stars Jeremy Allen White, earned less than projected in its opening weekend, with a total of $4.9 million at the domestic box office. The movie has opened with the lowest numbers, even below Digger‘s $3.5 million Friday opening-day collection.

Compared to The Social Network‘s opening-day gross, it is much lower. For the unversed, The Social Network collected $8 million on its opening day, Friday, at the North American box office. It is more than $6 million less than the predecessor’s opening day gross. The opening weekend of the sequel is also lower than the initially projected range.
