Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is running strong in international markets as it enters its eighth week at the box office. In fact, it has crossed the $1 billion mark overseas. Even as the film makes waves in different markets, it is set to begin its journey in Japan. The film will debut in the Asian country on September 11.

The Odyssey Japan Early Previews

Ahead of its release on September 11, the film had early previews on select IMAX screens. It was the first round of early previews, and the response was promising. The epic earned an estimated $215K on Friday through limited screenings. This was higher than the early previews of Michael in Japan. The successful biopic earned $175K in early previews in Japan.

Owing to the success of The Odyssey, the film is already opening to strong word of mouth. According to an update by Luiz Fernando, the film has received a 4.4 score from audiences who attended these previews, equivalent to an A on CinemaScore (almost an A+). This marks an all-time best in Nolan’s career, beating The Dark Knight’s current 4.2 rating.
